 10th ASPARAGUS FESTIVAL
The festival is held every year in the month of April. During the Asparagus Festival, many restaurants and taverns will offer meals featuring asparagus and on the Final Events day, the traditional Asparagus Feast will be held inclucing amusement programme, accordion players and music. Later, in the evening, a large omlettewill be made in a 2 m diameter frying pan with 1000 eggs and 30 kg of wild asparagus. |

 The renowned Lovran cherry is very similar to the well-known Lambert sort. The locals called them Brtosinka and their quality and taste is well known and highly regarded. During the Cherry Festival, held in the month of June, Lovran's taverns and restaurants offer cherry deserts and/or meals featuring cherries.The Cherry Festival ends with an organized Cherry Feast. During the day, one will be able to purchase freshly picked Lovran cherries, taste cherry cakes and treats, or buy original Lovran souvenirs. While in the evening, the Festival ends with the slicing of a giant Lovran strudel (a 10 m long strudel) and performances by various folklore ensembles |

37th MARUNADA

 Marunada is the greatest yearly event in Lovran. Traditional gastronomic event offering assorted dishesand pastry made of famous Lovran sweet chestnuts - maruni. Here cames the name: Marunada. Beacuse of special climate, the Lovran's chestnuts are one of the most tasteful chestnuts in the World, and this is why this event is so special.
Marunada traditionally begins mid-October in Lovran and then migrates to the neighboring villages of Liganj and Dobreć in the weekends to follow. During Marunada, along with an offer of roasted chestnuts, a type of mead (domestic brandy made from honey) and young wine may be consumed too. In cafes and patisseries, pastries, sweets and cakes made with maruns will be available (chestnut cream, chestnut purée, chestnut ice cream, chestnut frappé, chestnut sorbet ...), while in taverns and restaurants one may taste original domestic dishes featuring maruns (special dishes with chestnuts – turkey breast stuffed with chestnuts, cutlet au gratin with chestnuts, rump-steak with chestnut sauce, flaming crepes with chestnut cream ...) The Final Event (October 16, 2010) on one of the squares (Brajdice) is a whole-day program, including folklore, brass band performance and other music entertainment.
Every year, Marunada is accompanied by a series of sports and entertainment events, which visitors may participate in. Traditionally held during Marunada are a Lawn-bowling tournament, the “Giro di Marunada” bicycle tournament, a mountaineering excursion and the Adventurous Trekking Race "Učka Mountain Trek”. |
